The cafeteria is the hardest working room in most offices. A table there sees more people in one lunch hour than a workstation sees in a month. It gets hot plates, spilled tea, wet cloths and chairs dragged against its legs every day. Furniture meant for a desk does not survive it.
We build cafeteria furniture with that in mind: moisture-resistant boards, well-sealed edges, sturdy metal frames and surfaces that wipe clean. This page covers what we make and how to plan the number of seats. The rest of our range is on office furniture in Pune.
What cafeteria and pantry furniture do we make?
Cafeteria dining tables
Two, four, six and eight seater tables on metal frames, with laminate or solid-surface tops. Square, rectangular or round.
High tables and bar counters
Standing-height tables of 1050 mm for a quick tea or an informal chat. They seat more people in less floor area than dining tables.
Community tables
Long shared tables for eight to twelve people. Popular in startups and co-working cafeterias, and useful for team lunches and town halls.
Pantry counters and units
Base and wall units for the coffee machine, microwave, water dispenser and sink, with a worktop that takes heat and water.
Crockery and supply storage
Closed storage for cups, plates and consumables, with a lockable section for stock.
Breakout and lounge pieces
Low tables, bench bases and casual seating platforms for an informal corner near the pantry.

How many cafeteria seats does an office need?
You do not need a seat for every employee, because people eat in batches. A common planning approach is to seat about a quarter to a third of the staff at one time and run lunch in two or three shifts.
| Table type | Typical size | Height | Floor area to allow |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 seater | 600 x 600 mm | 750 mm | About 1.5 x 1.8 m |
| 4 seater square | 900 x 900 mm | 750 mm | About 2.4 x 2.4 m |
| 4 seater rectangular | 1200 x 750 mm | 750 mm | About 2.4 x 2.1 m |
| 6 seater | 1800 x 750 to 900 mm | 750 mm | About 3.0 x 2.4 m |
| 8 seater community | 2400 x 900 mm | 750 mm | About 3.6 x 2.4 m |
| High table | 600 mm round or 1200 x 600 mm | 1050 mm | About 1.5 x 1.5 m |
Allow roughly 12 to 15 square feet per cafeteria seat including aisles. Keep a clear 1200 mm path from the entrance to the food counter and the wash area, since that is where queues form.
Which materials last in a cafeteria?
- Table tops: high-pressure laminate on moisture-resistant board is the practical standard. Solid surface or compact laminate tops cost more and last longest.
- Edges: thick, machine-applied edge banding or post-formed edges. Water entering at the edge is what ruins a table.
- Frames: powder-coated metal legs or pedestal bases. They do not swell, and chairs do not chip them.
- Pantry worktops: granite, quartz or solid surface near the sink and hot appliances.
- Pantry carcasses: moisture-resistant plywood or board, on legs or a raised plinth so the floor can be mopped.
- Colours: mid tones and wood grains hide stains better than plain white.

How should you plan the pantry counter?
- List the appliancesCoffee machine, kettle, microwave, fridge, water dispenser, induction plate. Each needs a socket and a place.
- Fix wet and dry zonesSink and dispenser at one end, microwave and coffee at the other, so queues do not cross.
- Set the heightsCounter at 850 to 900 mm. Wall units starting about 600 mm above the counter.
- Plan the wasteA pull-out or a niche for two bins, wet and dry, near the exit of the pantry.
What decides the cost of cafeteria furniture?
| Factor | Effect on cost |
|---|---|
| Number of seats | More tables, with a better rate on larger quantities. |
| Top material | Solid surface and compact laminate cost more than standard laminate. |
| Frame type | Heavy pedestal bases and custom frames cost more than simple four-leg frames. |
| Pantry length and worktop | Stone or quartz worktops and more wall units raise the price. |
| Fixed seating | Booths and bench platforms involve more carpentry than loose tables. |
