Bhosari is one of the oldest industrial estates in the Pune region. Thousands of auto-component makers, fabricators, tool rooms, plastics and packaging units run here, from large plants to single-shed workshops. Almost all of them have an office attached: an owner’s cabin, an accounts section, a design or quality room, a purchase desk and a reception for vendors.
Factory offices are a different environment from a corporate floor. There is dust and oil mist, people come in from the shop floor, and furniture gets knocked about. What is needed is plain, strong, easy-to-clean furniture at a sensible price, fitted without stopping production.
What furniture does a factory office need?
| Area | Furniture | Point to note |
|---|---|---|
| Admin and accounts office | Linear workstations, file storage | Closed storage keeps dust off records |
| Owner and manager cabins | Executive table, back unit, visitor seating | Where customers and auditors are received |
| Design, QA and planning rooms | Wide desks for drawings and samples, pin-up and writing panels | Deeper tops, strong understructure |
| Conference and training room | Conference table, training tables | Used for customer audits and toolbox talks |
| Worker changing area | Banks of staff lockers, benches | One locker per worker per shift, padlock hasps |
| Canteen | Canteen tables, serving counter | Metal frames, wipe-clean tops |
| Stores and dispatch | Counter with shutter storage, document racks | Sturdy, with a raised plinth |
| Gate and reception | Security counter, visitor desk | Space for registers and CCTV monitor |
What makes furniture last in an industrial environment?
- Closed over open: shutters and drawers instead of open shelves, to keep dust and oil off paper.
- Sealed edges all round: machine edge banding on every edge, including the hidden ones.
- Raised bases: legs or a water-resistant plinth so floors can be washed.
- Dark, textured laminates: they hide hand marks from the shop floor far better than white.
- Metal where it takes knocks: metal legs and frames for desks, canteen tables and benches.
- Simple hardware: robust handles, locks and channels that are easy to replace.
- Vibration in mind: units near presses or heavy machines are fixed to the wall or floor.
How do we work around production?
- Weekly off installation: most Bhosari units close on Thursday. We schedule fitting for the weekly off or between shifts.
- No fabrication on site: everything is made at our unit, so there is no cutting dust near your machines.
- Gate procedures: we share vehicle and worker details in advance and follow your safety and PPE rules.
- Mezzanine and first-floor offices: furniture is made in sections that go up narrow steel staircases.
- Phased supply: office first, then lockers and canteen, to suit your budget cycle.
